Mr. Lee's story begins in Japan, where he pursued his studies before returning to Seoul, South Korea. After college, he joined his father in running the family bakery, a beloved establishment known for its unique blend of Korean and Japanese-style breads, pastries, and cakes.
This bakery was not just a business; it was the heart of the Lee family, where Mr. Lee, alongside his father, poured their passion into every creation. It was also where Mr. Lee met his beautiful wife, and together they raised three wonderful children who grew up playing and learning within the warm, fragrant walls of the bakery.
A visit to his sister in America ignited a new dream in Mr. Lee. Captivated by the charm of California, he decided to bring his family from Seoul to Los Angeles, chasing his own piece of the American Dream. With determination and a deep love for his craft, Mr. Lee carved out a niche for himself in Koreatown, contributing his expertise to various cafes and bakeries across California, Mexico City, Missouri, and Georgia. Through consulting and teaching, he shared his baking techniques and artistry, helping others realize their dreams.
Mr. Lee's journey led him to establish the California Baking School in both Orange County and Los Angeles. Here, he imparted his knowledge and passion to eager students, many of whom went on to build their very own successful businesses. His dedication to the craft and to nurturing the next generation of bakers earned him great respect and admiration.
But Mr. Lee's story didn't stop there. Driven by a desire to return to his roots and create something truly special, he embarked on a new adventure: the creation of Coin de Rue. The name means "corner street" in French, which embodies Mr. Lee's vision of a cozy, welcoming space where people can start their day with a perfect pastry. Coin de Rue is the culmination of Mr. Lee's lifelong dedication to the art of baking, offering a nostalgic taste of the Korean and Japanese breads of his past, fused with innovative new desserts that delight and inspire.
Mr. Lee's journey is far from over. Coin de Rue is just the beginning of the next chapter in his life, a testament to his unwavering commitment to bringing joy to others through the simple, yet profound, pleasure of good food.
